To The Year That Has Been & The One That Is To Come

The 31st of January, 2011 — I’m sure everyone will be out somewhere, with family, with friends, counting down to the new year. Whether looking back in thanks, or looking forward in hopefulness. As for me, I will be under the starry skies of the beach, just glad to have another chance, a clean slate, another shot, a fresh start.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.

So here’s to the people who have come, to the people who have gone, and to the people who will always be around.

Here’s to learning how to try as hard as you can for as long as you can. Then learning when to stop. When enough is really quite more than enough.

To learning that some things you fight for, while others you leave to the hands of fate.

Here’s to learning. Learning your lessons, but not letting yourself be embittered, imprisoned by them.

Here’s to new memories, even if the old ones fail to grow pale with time

Here’s to the people, my people, that I have to be most thankful for.

To the things that’ve gone wrong, and the ones that’ve gone right.

Here’s to remembering the past just enough, looking to the future just enough, but not forgetting to live in the present, never forgetting to be, today.

Here’s to the new year.

I am reblogging this because I swear I couldn’t have said it better myself. I think that seems sucky and unoriginal to...
